September? That’s the last time I published anything? Wow! What have I been doing that I couldn’t find the time to write a short post? Well…
First I was preparing three classes for AU2017, which took place last November in Las Vegas. One of these got cancelled at the last minute, when my co-speaker had an accident the night before the conference. Another one with the same co-speaker still went on, but don’t ask how it went. It was NOT my best speaking performance, let’s just leave it at that. The third class, with a different partner, went quite well. I am hoping to speak with the same co-speaker again this year. We are hoping to do a series on basic Vault configuration. More on that as the classes and schedules get announced in a few months.
I also got my daughter moved down state to attend grad school at the University of Michigan. 3 more months and she will be completely done with school. Woot! Let’s see… the next several months were filled with completing the design packages for one of the largest orders our company has ever had for one customer. With one person in my department still out on sick leave, and the other still a bit green (but learning quickly), the winter was a very busy time here in the CAD room.
As that slowed down a bit, and other work got caught up on, I started working on my side business. I’ve launched a photography website with Zenfolio. I’m not a professional… yet. I still have a lot to learn about the craft of taking great pictures, but this site will hopefully help me to earn some hobby money to help me learn more and buy newer and better equipment. Someday I am going to want to retire, and this could end up being a source of income. My focus is on nature and landscape photography, please take a look, and feel free to share the link with everyone you know. Some of the items offered would make great gift ideas.
Since the work portion has slowed down, I’ve been working on a lot of customization in AutoCAD. I had written some small and very basic AutoLISP routines… 20 some years ago. I’ve forgotten more than I learned back then, so most of what I’ve been doing now is borrowing snippets of code from others, and relying on the help of the experts in the Autodesk Forums. I’m going to try (no promises) to write more about this in another post, and share some of the code. Maybe some of it will help you out.
That’s all for now! I’ll TRY not to wait so long for the next post.
